Q: Optical and HDMI, Which is better?
A: The optical audio cable can only transmit DTS, Dolby Digital (AC-3), LPCM2.0, PCM audio format, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio encoding that HDMI support cannot be transmitted over fiber optical cable.
Although HDMI can deliver better audio performance, it’s not obvious if we have no suitable and professional speaker and amplifier to work together. For most sound devices, the effect of optical and HDMI is similar, and most surround sound systems and source devices are generally equipped with optical or digital coaxial audio port instead of HDMI port. (You can use optical to/from digital coaxial converter if your device only has a digital coaxial port)
